Karl Micallef currently heads Business Development within investment services at Sparkasse Bank Malta plc. He works very closely with the Private Banking team and is a member of various management committees within the Bank. After having obtained a Masters degree in Financial Services, Karl went on to complete the CFA program and became a member of the CFA UK Society. Following this certification, Karl started focusing more of his time on asset allocation formulation and portfolio management for institutions (specifically occupational & private pension schemes and insurance companies), family offices and high net worth individuals. During this time, he worked very closely with Morgan Stanley in London to set-up a collaboration in Malta to spearhead the domestic wealth management market. Between 2019 and 2022 Karl was involved in various capital market transactions which resulted in a number of high-profile listings on the Malta Stock Exchange. Karl has over 20 years experience in the industry and today is assisting the Bank to widen the investment services offering.

Furthermore, Karl is also a non-executive director for a select number of locally licensed, regulated entities and chairs the investment committee of a prestigious fund management company which is licensed and regulated in Malta.
