Gary E. Kalbaugh is a partner at Cahill Gordon & Reindel LLP and a nationally recognized authority in derivatives, commodities, and digital assets law. With over 23 years of in-house counsel experience, Gary served as Deputy General Counsel and Director at ING, where he chaired swap dealer regulatory committees, provided strategic counsel to senior management and the board on U.S., European, and global regulatory matters, and maintained critical relationships with regulators worldwide. Previously, he held senior roles at WestLB as Executive Director and Counsel, where he chaired global Dodd-Frank and underwriting committees and advised executive leadership on complex regulatory initiatives. Gary is the author of the leading treatise Derivatives Law and Regulation (3rd ed. 2021), serves as Editor-in-Chief of the Futures and Derivatives Law Report, and sits on the CFTC’s Future of Finance Subcommittee. He also teaches derivatives and banking law as Special Professor of Law at Hofstra University’s Maurice A. Deane School of Law.
