Peter Tkáč serves as the Director of the Capital Market Supervision Department at the National Bank of Slovakia. In this capacity, he is responsible for the oversight of the Slovak capital market, where he supervises a diverse range of entities, including investment firms, asset management companies, the stock exchange, the central depository, issuers, and distribution channels represented by financial intermediaries and financial advisors, among other related matters. Previously, he also held responsibilities for the oversight of the pensions sector and the insurance industry.
Mr. Tkáč is a member of the Board of Supervisors of the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) and represents the National Bank of Slovakia on various international committees.
He graduated from Comenius University in Bratislava, where he studied law. He has remained actively engaged in the academic community and is the author of numerous papers primarily focused on issues related to financial law. He was awarded a doctorate for his research on the causes and implications of the 2009 financial crisis, particularly its impact on financial market regulation.
